Fasilitas Produksi Terbesar Dongsung Chemical

  • Industri otomotif (jok, headrest, pelapis interior)
  • Alas kaki (sol sepatu dan perekat)
  • Barang rumah tangga (kasur, sofa, pelapis tahan air)
  • Manufaktur dan konstruksi (sealant, perekat, pelindung permukaan)

Indonesia Sebagai Hub Produksi Teknologi Tinggi

Korea Selatan: Investor Strategis Indonesia

Karawang Sebagai Hub Strategis Global

Tren Positif Investasi Korea Selatan

South Korean Investment in Indonesia Reaches USD11.3 Billion in the Last 5 Years

South Korean investors' interest in Indonesia remains high. This is marked by the inauguration of Dongsung Chemical, a South Korean chemical company that produces polyurethane (PU), on Wednesday (30/04), in Karawang, West Java.

Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, who participated in the factory operational inauguration ceremony, conveyed the importance of this investment as an indicator that Indonesia remains an attractive investment destination, even for companies with high-technology products.

Dongsung Chemical's Largest Production Facility

Built on a 82,000 square meter land with a building area of 23,000 square meters, this factory is the largest production facility owned by the company, even exceeding production capacity in its home country.

Dongsung Chemical's products are used in various sectors, such as:

  • Automotive industry (seats, headrests, interior linings)
  • Footwear (shoe soles and adhesives)
  • Household goods (mattresses, sofas, waterproof coatings)
  • Manufacturing and construction (sealants, adhesives, surface protection)

Indonesia as a High-Technology Production Hub

Minister Rosan emphasized the importance of this investment as an indicator that Indonesia remains an attractive investment destination, even for companies with high-technology products.

"The presence of this factory once again proves that Indonesia is not only an investment destination that remains attractive to investors but is also trusted to become a center for the production and export of high-technology products. This investment will create jobs and strengthen Indonesia's position in the global supply chain," said Rosan.

Open for Business and Industrial Downstream

On this occasion, Rosan also stated that the government actively continues to enhance cooperation with Indonesia's strategic partners to invest in the country. Moreover, according to him, currently, based on the direction of President Prabowo, Indonesia is very open for business, especially those aligned with the government's agenda in promoting industrial downstream and creating quality jobs.

South Korea: Indonesia's Strategic Investor

In the last five years (2020-2024), South Korea has been recorded as the 7th largest source of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Indonesia, with a total investment of USD11.3 billion.

Rosan believes that the cooperation between South Korea and Indonesia that has been going well must be maintained and even enhanced. "I believe the actual investment realization figures are much larger, as there are investments from Korea entering through other countries such as Malaysia or Singapore," continued Minister Rosan.

Karawang as a Global Strategic Hub

For Dongsung Chemical, the factory in Karawang is an important part of the company's long-term growth plan. Dongsung Chemical Chairman Baek Jeong-ho said that his investment in Indonesia is not only to increase production capacity but also part of the company's strategy to continue growing.

"This new factory in Indonesia is the best PU system production base in Southeast Asia, serving as a global strategic hub reaching from Asia, Latin America, to Europe. This is not just an expansion of production facilities but also an important milestone in expanding Dongsung Chemical's technology and global vision," said Baek.

Positive Trend of South Korean Investment

Based on data from the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industries/BKPM, in the first quarter of 2025, South Korea recorded an impressive investment performance by ranking seventh as the largest country of origin for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Indonesia. During this period, South Korea's investment value reached USD683.29 million spread across various sectors.

This trend reflects the consistent interest and optimism of South Korean investors toward investment opportunities in Indonesia.

Sektor Industri Manufaktur Dominasi Realisasi Investasi

Sektor industri manufaktur mendominasi realisasi investasi berdasarkan sektor usaha, dengan nilai Rp67,3 triliun, diikuti:

  • Transportasi dan telekomunikasi (Rp66,5 triliun)
  • Pertambangan (Rp48,6 triliun)

Distribusi Investasi Semakin Berimbang

  1. Industri logam dasar, barang logam, bukan mesin dan peralatan lainnya (US$3,6 miliar)
  2. Pertambangan (US$1,2 miliar)
  3. Transportasi, gudang dan telekomunikasi (US$1,1 miliar)
  4. Jasa lainnya (US$1,1 miliar)
  5. Industri kimia dan farmasi (US$0,9 miliar)

Singapura tetap menjadi sumber investasi terbesar (US$4,6 miliar), diikuti Hong Kong, Tiongkok, Malaysia, dan Jepang.

Program Hilirisasi Dorong Investasi

  • Sektor mineral (Rp97,60 triliun)
  • Sektor perkebunan dan kehutanan (Rp31,12 triliun)
  • Minyak dan gas bumi (Rp6,55 triliun)
  • Perikanan dan kelautan (Rp1,03 triliun)

Target Pertumbuhan Ekonomi 5,3%

Memasuki tahun 2025, pemerintah menargetkan realisasi investasi sebesar Rp1.905,6 triliun, naik 11,14% dari capaian tahun lalu sebesar Rp1.714,2 triliun, guna menopang target pertumbuhan ekonomi nasional sebesar 5,3%.

Job Creation Increases by 8.5% with 594,104 Workers Absorbed

Amid global economic uncertainties, Indonesia has once again recorded positive investment growth. Investment realization throughout the first quarter of 2025 reached IDR465.2 trillion, up 2.7% compared to Q4 2024 and significantly increased by 15.9% compared to the same period last year. This achievement has fulfilled 24.4% of the 2025 investment realization target of IDR1,905.6 trillion.

This investment performance has also had a positive impact on job creation, with direct labor absorption reaching 594,104 people, an 8.5% increase compared to Q1 2024. This was announced by the Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Perkasa Roeslani during the Q1 2025 Investment Realization Press Conference on Tuesday (29/04).

National Economic Resilience Amid Global Dynamics

According to Rosan, this achievement reflects national economic resilience and the implementation of government strategies in maintaining investment attractiveness and climate amid global dynamics.

"If we look at the trend, it's very good, because in 2025, the investment increase compared to 2024 is 15.9%, which is quite high. We see this from the incoming appetite and ongoing investment realization, and God willing, we can achieve that figure," said Rosan.

Rosan added that global trade tensions, such as the increase in US import tariffs, have not directly impacted investment flows to Indonesia. Investment realization figures reflect capital expenditure for physical projects such as factory construction, infrastructure, and production facilities involving long-term business calculations and risks.

"This achievement is a very good and positive indicator amid increasing geopolitical and geoeconomic tensions. Alhamdulillah, we see investment interest, both from domestic and foreign sources, continuing to increase in Indonesia," explained Rosan.

Manufacturing Industry Sector Dominates Investment Realization

The manufacturing industry sector dominates investment realization by business sector, with a value of IDR67.3 trillion, followed by:

  • Transportation and telecommunications (IDR66.5 trillion)
  • Mining (IDR48.6 trillion)

More Balanced Investment Distribution

The investment distribution between Java and outside Java has also become more balanced:

  • Outside Java: IDR235.9 trillion (50.7% of total investment)
  • Java: IDR229.3 trillion (49.3% of total investment)

Investment growth outside Java of 17.4% emphasizes the direction of national development equity. Central Sulawesi Province has become one of the growth engines outside Java with a realization of IDR32.7 trillion, placing it in the national top five alongside DKI Jakarta (IDR69.8 trillion) and West Java (IDR68.5 trillion).

Balanced Growth in Foreign and Domestic Investment

Amid external pressures, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) continues to contribute significantly with IDR230.4 trillion, or 49.5% of total investment realization. Meanwhile, Domestic Direct Investment (DDI) amounts to IDR234.8 trillion or 50.5%.

The five sectors contributing the largest FDI figures are:

  1. Basic metal industries, metal goods, non-machinery and other equipment (US$3.6 billion)
  2. Mining (US$1.2 billion)
  3. Transportation, warehousing, and telecommunications (US$1.1 billion)
  4. Other services (US$1.1 billion)
  5. Chemical and pharmaceutical industries (US$0.9 billion)

Singapore remains the largest source of investment (US$4.6 billion), followed by Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, and Japan.

Downstream Program Drives Investment

The natural resource downstream program continues to be a main pillar in driving investment. In Q1 2025, investment realization in the downstream sector reached IDR136.3 trillion or 29.3% of total national investment.

The largest contributions came from:

  • Mineral sector (IDR97.60 trillion)
  • Plantation and forestry sector (IDR31.12 trillion)
  • Oil and gas (IDR6.55 trillion)
  • Fisheries and marine (IDR1.03 trillion)

5.3% Economic Growth Target

Entering 2025, the government is targeting investment realization of IDR1,905.6 trillion, up 11.14% from last year's achievement of IDR1,714.2 trillion, to support the national economic growth target of 5.3%.

"With a strong foundation and ongoing structural reforms, Indonesia is optimistic about maintaining investment growth momentum while strengthening the national economic foundation amid global challenges," concluded Rosan.
